Olga Peretyatko

OLGA PERETYATKO

Soprano

Singing actress with dramatic instinct

"Olga is not only young, she's an excellent singer. And I'm not saying this because we are recording a CD!" - Alberto Zedda

A voice as clear and fresh as water dwelling from a spring, coloraturas as delicate as Brussels lace, top notes shining like pure gold. Blessed with all these qualities that Olga Peretyatko combines with the looks of a film star, the Russian soprano is an ideal singer for the great bel canto heroines. Far from being a chirping nightingale specialised in vocal acrobatics, she is a singing actress who engages in provocative directorial concepts and renders her roles from the Italian, German, French and Russian repertoire with dramatic instinct, outstanding diction and idiomatic authenticity.

Among the roles in which Peretyatko is internationally acclaimed are Mozart's Pamina (The Magic Flute) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor", "Anna Bolena", Adina (L'Elisir d'amore) and Norina (Don Pasquale), the Violetta in Verdi's "La traviata", the leading female roles in Offenbach's "Tales of Hoffmann" or Leila in Bizet's "Les pecheurs des perles". Peretyatko is also an exquisite singer in operas by Puccini and Russian composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov ("Tsar's Bride") and Stravinsky (Nightingale).

Peretyatko's career began in 2006 with an audition for the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, where she debuted in two roles from Rossini's "Il viaggio a Reims". After succeeding at Plácido Domingo's prestigious Operalia Competition (2007), she has been a guest at the most important houses, festivals and concert halls in the world, including the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York as well as the opera houses in Berlin, Milan, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Peretyatko sang at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, at the festivals in Grafenegg and Gstaad, at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, the “Mozartwochen” in Salzburg and the Smetana Festival Litomysl, in the Forbidden City in Beijing and in Guangzhou (China). She worked with conductors such as Alberto Zedda, Daniel Barenboim, Richard Bonynge, Lorin Maazel and Marc Minkowski, performing together with colleagues such as Anna Netrebko, Natalie Dessay, Elīna Garanča and Rolando Villazón.

Peretyatko was born to an opera singer in Saint Petersburg. While studying choral conducting at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, she acquired the practical and theoretical basics of music. Later she studied at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin. Olga Peretyatko has an exclusive contract with Sony Music.
